A LITTLE ABOUT SHANNON KENDRICK

IN EDUCATION:
A results-driven public servant serving on the School Board for Virginia Beach City Public Schools. A former college professor of business and senior executive college administrator for Regent University’s School of Government. Member of the Board of Directors for the Life Enrichment Center – a statewide nonprofit dedicated to enhancing the reading levels of K-3 children.

CAREER EXPERIENCE: A businesswoman and specialist in government and community relations. Founder of the Kendrick Consulting Group and Hampton Roads Black Caucus. A congressional district director for six years. A senior vice president of the Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance--I have firsthand knowledge of our region’s workforce assets, opportunities, and future needs. For three years, I served in the Peace Corps as a director of intergovernmental affairs and strategic partnerships in Washington, D.C.. Presently, I am an international developer working for a worldwide nonprofit committed to building churches, schools, rescue centers, and orphanages in Indigenous communities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Vice Chair for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s African American Advisory Board. National and local recognitions: Inside Business’s “Top 40 Under 40,” YWCA’s Woman of Distinction, Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Former member of The Links, Incorporated.

MY EDUCATION: First-generation college graduate born to military veterans who served in the Desert Storm War and city fire departments. I obtained my education from the U.S. Army War College, an MBA from Regent University, and Bachelor of Arts in Government and Law from Oral Roberts University.

WHY I AM RUNNING: Our school division is committed to maintaining its top-ranking status. We need a collaborative servant-leader who can solve fiscal challenges, prepare our children for the workforce, distribute resources efficiently, and align funding and policy-making at all levels of government to advance our school district's current and future priorities. I am that leader and I need your support to continue serving the incredible children and families of Virginia Beach's 4th District!
